About
About the show:
This podcast is dedicated to all the folks who travel and miss out on getting thier “geek fix” while they are away from home. Of course those people who don’t travel much can get something out of it to and I hope everyone tries it out for an episode or two and lets me know what they think.
The podcast should be posted every two week on a Monday starting June 4th 2007, though there may be delays if I don’t have access to a broadband connection on the day I need to post. Running time is about an hour. And there will also be full-length interviews posted as separate podcasts if they run over the 15 minutes or so that I’ve allotted in the feature topic.
I’ll also be covering MMOs, DVD releases, and general geeky goodness in the news segments. And “Skid Marks” will be covering the humorous aspects of life on the road as well as random thoughts that come from driving for ten hours a day.
About me:
My name is Curt the Camera Guy. I’m 41 and drive truck for a living. NO, No, please wait. I can string words together to form actual sentences, honest. This just happens to be what I wandered into and it’s not a bad job if you ask me. It does keep me on the road for 270 days a year though. So, as a geek for over 30 years, I needed to find a way to get my gaming fix and “get me geek on” while I was out on the road. That’s one of the reasons I started the podcast, to share some of what I’ve figured out and learn even more right along with you.
I’ve been married for quite a while now (22 years to be precise) to “Mrs. Camera Guy” and we have two great daughters. One who I’ve corrutped to total geekdom, “Bear”, and one who has the sense of humor and some geek culture savvy but not games or comic books, “Bean”. “Bean” still lives at home, so I’ve still got a couple years to try for the full conversion.
Home base is in Wisconsin, though we are looking to move to Texas after Bean graduates from High School in a couple years. Mrs. Camera Guy has absolutly no interest in geeky things other than the occational euro-style board or tile game. She does, however, put up with the rest of the house in a “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” style. And I think she secretly enjoys the annual family trip to Gen Con where the entire family does volunteer work.
I’ve been the official photographer for Gen Con Indy for 4 years now and hope to do it for many more to come. It’s the one weekend a year where I get to live a total fantasy life and put two of my great passions together, gaming and photography. And this year I will be adding podcasting and interviewing to the list. I can’t wait.
